• 20th January 2014, Old Delhi, India. A street scene on Khari Baoli Road in Old Delhi on the 20th January 2014

Old Delhi is the walled city of Delhi, founded as Shahjahanabad by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in 1639. It remained the capital of the Mughals until the end of the Mughal dynasty. It was once filled with mansions of nobles and members of the royal court, along with elegant mosques and gardens. Today, despite having become extremely crowded and dilapidated, it still serves as the symbolic heart of metropolitan Delhi.
• 23rd August, 2012, Gurgaon, India. the Lemp Brewpub and Kitchen, a gastropub in Gurgaon, India that has made it to this years shortlist of the International Restaurant & Bar Design Awards

Gastropubs and micro-brewerys are on the rise in India in various states with progressive alcohol licensing laws. Beer consumption in India though still low in comparison to the traditional preference for spirits is beginning to increase among the young and upwardly mobile who are looking for more stylish, relaxed places to drink. Its also a refection of the changing attitudes towards drinking in India.
• 19th February 2014,New Delhi. A man sleeps on shelving in a market in Old Delhi, India on the 19th February 2014

Sleeping in the outdoors is common in Asia due to a warmer climate and the fact that personal privacy for sleep is not so culturally ingrained as it is in the West. New Delhi (where most of these images were taken) is a harsh city both in climate and environment and for those working long hours, often in hard manual labour, sleep and rest is something fallen into when exhaustion overwhelms, no matter the place or circumstance. Then there are the homeless, in Delhi figures for them from Government and NGO sources vary wildly from 25,000 to more than 10 times that. Others public sleepers may simply be travellers having a siesta along the way.
